Second Life Upcycling is about giving everyday items a second life and to inspire others to recycle, repurpose, refashion, reuse, and rethink. My sustainability and upcycling journey (so far)…
I have been thrifting, second-hand shopping, and sewing for 30+ years. I started in the 1980s, out of necessity, as a struggling student. Now, decades later, I have made it my purpose to no longer buy clothes new (except undergarments and swimwear). My wardrobe now only comprises clothes I have owned for a long time, purchased second hand or hand-me-downs. I try to purchase the majority of my thrift clothes purchases from the ‘last chance’ rack where they are destined for landfill or to be turned into rags.
I follow ethical style when it comes to my clothing choices and try to tread as lightly as possible upon the earth. I want to encourage others to consider purchasing their clothes second hand too and resist the urge to indulge in environmentally unfriendly fast fashion.
